ReactionFlash

This app has a large database of 1094 different chemical reactions with their required conditions and a small concise description of the reaction above each scheme. This is a useful app when doing project work, lab work or writing dissertations at undergraduate level and beyond. The app was created by the large, trusted and well known publisher, Reaxys.

User interface: 1.0/1.0
Typically, an app used for iPhone, but it has functions to change the U.I. to landscape and to fill an iPad screen, this was seen to be very a effective function to optimise it for a larger screen seen on an iPad. Usually, apps with these sets of functions will blur the graphics when enlarged but these graphics scale perfectly to iPad OS. It is very easy to navigate and use as all the functions are labelled adequately. This app also supports dark mode which is a nice feature if enabled as your default iOS settings.

In App Purchases: No, 1.0/1.0

Accuracy 1.0/1.0 This app is something you’d expect from a large organisation such as Reaxys. It is concise, correct, and useful. No mistakes were documented.

Scope 1.0/1.0 The usefulness to an undergraduate student is quite high, with a professional quiz format that is mature and not cheesy. This is a timed quiz that can be changed depending on how much time you think you will need to complete the task; this can be reduced as you get more confident with organic chemistry reactions it also includes scoring system to allow you to see if you are progressing. This will help you learn reactions for organic chemistry exams.

Platform accessibility 0.75/1.0 (iPhone, iPad, and Android)

OVERALL SCORE 4.75/5.0
